Question
Big Crush > from Noirloup (teenfemale)4 answers
Alright, so there is this sophomore at my school who could possibly have a crush on me. It seems very likely that he does. It all started when at the beginning of this year. He thought that I had a crush on him. At that time I didn't but, now I do. In my religion we aren't supposed to date before we are 16.(He shares religious beliefs with me) This sophomore's 16th birthday is on the 3rd to last day of school, which i like 200 days away. I'm a junior so i'm already 16. He always pats me on the back and finds excuses to put his arm around me for a few seconds. I have no idea how to handle this situation. I really like him but I don't know what to do. I don't think I can wait that long for him to be 16. This probably doesn't make a lot of sense... I just needed to rant about this for a second......

What do you mean, you don't know what to do? There are only two choices here, yes? Either a) WAIT or b) don't wait, and go against your religion. Either one is going to be hard, in different ways, but only you can make the decision which will be harder for you to handle...

So, what religion is it that forbids dating before 16?..
If he was your soul mate, you could wait a year. A year is a while, but really not all that long. On the flip side -- you are 16, and there really is no reason to necessarily "wait for him" -- he isn't a soldier headed for a war... Date whomever else asks you. And maybe this summer, when he's old enough, he'll ask you out. Do you really want to date a younger guy?? Don't most teen girls want to go a little older. Like, a guy with a driver's license?..

It depends on whether or not you value your potential relationship with him, or your faith more. Only you can make that choice...
Personally I say to hell with the tradition and go for it. Haha..

It can seem like torture now to have to wait 200 days for him to be "legal," but you don't have to refrain from dating others in the meanwhile. Imagine if you waited around the whole school year and saved yourself for him, then he went off and got together with someone else, or it just didn't click once you tried dating. it does sound like he likes you, so file him away as a future possibility, and meanwhile, look at all the cute 17-year-olds out there...
