Myspace Crush..
..
So...I know this guy who I think would be great for me. We know each other (and have a lot of mutal friends) irl but I feel too awkward to ask him out that way. Would it be weird of me to message him on myspace and see if he's interested?..

I agree with ScarlettO that while MySpace is great for showing your interest and flirting, it's just better to gauge in real life what the reaction is...

I say you go ahead and ask him out...Obviously it would be great if you could do it in person, but if you're too shy, I think myspace is preferable to not doing it at all...
..
And you'd have time to come up with the perfect wording, which is hard to do when you're in person...Of course, then you have to worry about sitting there at your computer obsessing over when you're going to get his response :)..Not that that's happened to me ever or anything, la la la...
..
Good luck!..

I think messaging him on myspace is a great idea, but I agree that it is not the best way to ask someone out...If I were you, I woudl begin by chatting with him via myspace...Ask him questions or discuss something abotu a mutual friend("did you hear so and so are getting married?! How exciting!) That way you guys can start a friendly thing and maybe you can arrange to see a movie or concert you both have interest in...If he is a facebook-er, you can invite him to an event with a few others that way it is casual but still an a way to see each other in person...

Sure, nothing wrong with that! It might take a bit longer to get your answer if he doesn't check very often, so just be prepared to play the waiting game. But you could play it cool by pretending you just happened to be on the internet and saw this event that totally made you think of him, so you had to send him a message. Totally casual!..
