There's a guy at work who, well, lets just say he's a real jackass sometimes. from the first day he started working there, he was a total jerk to me, without really any reason. I tried to be nice to him but every time I approached him he'd cut me down with a nasty remark or a sarcastic response. So, eventually, I just started giving it back to him. Now we've developed this antagonistic relationship at work, so much so that other people joke about it. OK, so a couple of nights ago I had a tremendous erotic dream about him, and when I woke up and remembered it..it was like a light bulb inspiration moment: we have this relationship because there's a ton of sexual tension between us. He is really attractive to me, though I almost hate to admit it. and I realized that it's like in elementary school when a boy teases you mercilessly, because he really has a crush on you. So - two questions: 1. could this be true? I am looking at the guy in a new light now and try to analyze what he says and does according to my new theory. 2. What do I do? I'm suddenly very intrigued by the idea of being with him, but I do not know how to go from being office enemies to being flirty or making a move. And if I'm wrong, and he rejects me, it would be mortifying - because no doubt he would spread it around the office and use it against me. What's your take?..

OK this sounds like it could be hot stuff if you get together! I say arrange a work outing after work some day. See if he's eager to go, see if he sits near you, and see what happens...

Yep, a work night out a great idea. Go for it. How bout making your cruel jobes a little funnier in the office, like smiling after you say something sarcastic, or laughing at something he says. If he smiles back, you're definitely on to a winner...

Doesn't it only happen in books and movies that the couples that hate each other fall mad in love?..
You could ask him to lunch. And tell him that you're tired of being office enemies and would like to be friends. There's nothing bad he can spread around about you about that. Wow, she tried to be mature and not fight with me anymore -- doesn't really have a hurtful ring to it...

I like your story...I can't wait for part two where you two hook up for some hot sex...Because, let's be honest, that's all you'll get (if you get anything)...Being a semi-jackass myself, I know the routine of insult the girl, get her to play your game, then win her over with your charm (you stop being a jackass at some point and become charming)...It's funny how life works...
Truthfully, what's the quickest way to get a woman to notice you?..Be nice to her?..Nope, because any half-way decent woman gets hit on and flirted with enough...You want a woman to notice you, be a jerk to her...It works...

Your only viable option here is to somehow get him to make the first move. That way, your hands stay clean, and there's no risk to you of embarrassment or humiliation. Now, how do you do that? You may well ask, and here's my super-secret, patent-pending, fantabulous ScarlettO solution: get him drunk. I kid you not. As we all know, in vino veritas, so if your suspicion that he teases you because he like-likes you is correct, the truth will out at the office Christmas party or the after-work Happy Hour. Just give him enough Scotch and let him hang himself, so to speak. If, after an evening of carousing with the coworkers, he still remains stoically jackassian, then you have your answer: he's just not that into you. In fact, he really can't stand you...
