I'd have to say I'd be suspicious too...I don't think people usually change that drastically or dramatically. Sometimes you hear about radical transformations, but do you think maybe this guy had family or friends who made him feel ashamed of his sexuality (maybe had been talking to him this way all along) and finally he just caved and decided to convert? Maybe he really did "find God" but there are also plenty of churches that are just fine with gay and lesbian folks, that would accept him the way he was and even let him get ordained. To me the red flag is that he is looking for a wife, AND that he's so effusive about his religion. It sounds like maybe he's trying to convince himself as much as anyone else. You know, the way someone who's miserable in their marriage goes on and on about how great their husband is and how perfect their life is? Do you feel comfortable enough to ask him, Hey, WTF happened to you? (or maybe WTH would be better!)..

If he had to find God and heterosexuality to get off drugs and get clean, does it really matter if he's being 100% true?..Plus, don't forget, the homosexuality might not have been legit, either...You can never assume anything, so I would just be happy to see him doing so well...Don't try to look for "leaks" in his story or in him...Just be glad he's turned his life around...It's better than him being dead...

I'm a woman who was in a long term lesbian relationship only to find out after several years that I really yearned to be with a man. (I actually realized I wanted men soon after the lesbian relationship began but kept those thoughts at bay). By the end of the relationship, I was craving a man very badly. I joked to my friends that I was "Brokeback Mountain" in reverse! My ex was very angry that I not only left her, but that I left her to be with a man. I have no desire to go back with women...

There is a very good chance he is fooling himself and trying very hard to be straight...However, perhaps it was all a phase when you knew him...I mean everyone's personality changes in a span of 6 years, his was just more drastic than normal...And if his gay streak was just a phase, there is no reason why he coudl not have found God and decided to clean up his act...Just be great full he was able to stop his partying habits and maybe try to keep in touch with him now...say something like "wow you have changed a lot!"..and perhaps if you get closer he will fill you in on his drastic change...

I think he's probably fooling himself.....

I do think that people can find God and change, but usually I think that happens after a very negative experience in your life -- like you get pushed to the ege with drugs and alcohol, or end up in a bad life situation...You decide you want to make a change, and turn toward religion to help you through it...

This guy sounds like he's trying to deny the fact that he's gay - maybe to please his family, or maybe just because he encountered some discrimination...And so he "found" Jesus, and decided that was his reason for changing...Sounds suspect -- I don't think you can go from being gay to "wife searching."..It just doesn't really work that way...
