Maybe not the nicest compliment, but it stands out in my mind.....
..
Back in acting class in college my teacher had us each write anonymous notes to our classmates and fellow actors...Sometimes the notes were criticism and sometimes they were compliments...One girl I had known only by name wrote me "I like your voice."..It made me feel so good because back in high school my horrible drama teacher once told me my voice was so bad that I'd require surgery to make it worth listening to (yeah, my teacher was a bitch)...Nonetheless, I was delighted to learn that someone actually thought my voice was unique and special...I've tried very hard to believe her and not my high school teacher...

"You are going to change the world one of these days."..
..
I have been told this by a boy who was very angry with me and had just broken up with me...He told me I just need to believe in myself and I coudl change the world...When I told another of my friends this he agreed and told me of anyone we graduated with, he honestly believed I woudl have the greatest impact on the world...It still makes me smile to think about...

My friend Jeff told me once that I was his "joy and pain" -- quoting the Billie Holliday song "Don't Explain."..

I was watching Bowfinger with one of my students (a man in his forties) and in one of the scenes Steve Martin is telling Heather Locklear she's got this special 'something'. My student turns to me (in his french accent) and says, ' Yeah you, you have it too'. I never really understood what he meant, but it made me smile from ear to ear...
