Oooh. ..
My sister would tell you that the boy pays for everything. Always...
But, she's old school...
So, you don't want to buy dinner unless she promises to stay with you forever? Why does exclusivity matter? ..
Who has more money? When I've dated guys in school, or who are artists, or who are just broke -- then I pay for things. ..
I mean, it's good to offer to pay for things. Like, if you buy movie tickets, she can buy popcorn. The other night I went on a date, he bought dinner. I bought ice cream. I really don't think there's a definite, she gets brunch, so you get dinner divide. That's something to work out between yourselves. I dated a guy who wouldn't even let me buy him a grilled cheese sandwich, so I would buy him presents. But it really seems to me like this isn't your biggest issue. But, if you harp about money a lot, maybe she will "change her mind" and stop sleeping with you and find someone else...

"It seems like your going out on an exclusive basis"???..... that always amazes me ... the amount of people that are in the dark when it comes to this...Doesn't knowing the answer to this one help clarify everything else?..
..
But I should stick to the question posed ... Paying for dates .....
..
I'm a big believer in "sharing the load" especially if you're both in approximately the same..financial bracket...Altho I don't like splitting the bill, I'd rather pay one time, let the other pay the next ... so it kinda balances out ..
..
Atho if one of the parties can't afford extravagent excursions or if the scale is way off balance, then I kinda think the person who's got more should offer to pay...

I like to do things they way they pay for drinks in Ireland. One person pays for a round, then another person takes their turn paying, and so on. You're still treating and getting treated, but it evens out so one person isn't always paying...

I think you guys shoudl just split it. Either you each pay for your own stuff or you alternate on paying...Also though,I think you guys shoudl make it clear whether or not you are exclusive...

I make a decent living, but my mortgage payment and other living expenses pretty much squeeze my liquid cash to nearly nothing. My boyfriend makes at least 3 times as much as I do... He pays most of the time when we go to dinner or do things like expensive plays or concerts. He's even bought me clothes, taken me on nice vacations. But I do like to contribute in my own way every way that I can. So I cook dinner often. I'll drop by the grocery store and bring things to eat to his place. I'll purchase tickets to independent theater productions occasionally that are very inexpensive. I'll also take him to dinner at the more bohemian type eateries...I'll find things to do that don't cost very much (or free) but are interesting and fun. I don't contribute monetarily the same as him, but I contribute in other ways that I feel are equal (and he seems happy) ...
..
I am committed to my boyfriend and have no thoughts on ever "changing my mind" about him...
